First Day/Week Home

Wait the nurses can’t come home with me!? No they can’t but they will tell you everything that you need to know. Ask as many questions as you can before you leave. If you forget things which you will you can always call the hospital they are always willing to help new parents out.
The first day home can be a little overwhelming but don’t worry it is not as bad as you think. Just make sure everything is ready a few weeks prior to your due date because once you get home with baby there will be no time to put cribs and changing tables together. One good thing is that they do sleep a lot the first week home and you know the saying, “sleep when they sleep” ha yeah I could never do that. I was always doing laundry and washing bottles while my little boy took his naps.

The lack of sleep will drive you a little nuts especially mixing that with the postpartum depressing that every female gets a little of after giving birth. The best thing is to keep the baby in your bedroom for the first few months just to make the night feedings a little easier and to avoid SIDS from happening.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and if people are willing to help TAKE IT! I was too stubborn to kept saying no I’m independent I don’t need help. Looking back I should have let the in-laws help when they offered because I was a little bit of a B-word with the lack of sleep. I ended up taking out my aggression on my boyfriend which was not right at all.

Time for your little one’s first bath at home! Don’t be scared you will not hurt the baby I know they seem so small and fragile but don’t worry you can’t break them (well as long as you don’t drop them, very slippery when wet! Ha-ha) Make sure you buy a baby tub or you can use the kitchen sink if it is big enough. Never leave them in the water unattended and never fill it more than a few inches it is easy for them to drown they do not know how to stop themselves.
